Individual Therapy

We are dedicated to helping individuals identify their core worth, manage upsetting emotions, and change harmful thoughts. As clinicians, we believe in combining best practices in therapy tailored to your needs. We offer treatment for adjustment issues, anxiety, ADHD, depression, eating disorders, grief, PTSD, self-harm, substance abuse, trauma, and faith related concerns and/or religious trauma. We practice gender-affirming care, respect all sexual orientations, and are LGBT+ allied therapists. All backgrounds, religions and belief systems are welcome in our office. We offer counseling to any person living in the state of Utah, both in-person or Telehealth.

We believe in giving you specific techniques and skills to help with your mental health issues. We can help you identify the signs and symptoms of various diagnoses, such as depression or anxiety. The counselors at Willow Shore Counseling will help you identify and reach your therapy goals.

Our therapists believe in the value of integrating your emotions, thoughts and personal wisdom to gain insight in to your life. Healing from the past and embracing the present is possible!

Relational Therapy

Life isn’t meant to do alone. We believe that relationships are integral to individual growth and development. How we think and feel is connected to the relationships we have in our life, past and present. Couples and family therapy can help to improve communication, build trust and attachment, and foster warm feelings in individuals and in their relationships. In romantic relationships we sometimes need outside support in resolving different values, experiencing more intimacy, and working through those same five arguments that we all have! We can help couples navigate mixed-faith beliefs, improve communication skills and increase vulnerability and connection.

Parenting can be tough. Getting teens to open up and talk about what is going on in their life is tricky. Family therapy helps both parents and teens find new ways to relate to each other. We help families accept differences in values, communicate with less hostility and anger, and create homes that kids want to be in.

Let’s find solutions to have more patience, talk about hard things, and resolve gridlock.

Eating Disorder Therapy

Despite the stereotypes out there, eating disorders don’t have a look. What they do have in common is how much it takes over your life. If you’re finding that most of your day is consumed by thoughts of food, exercise, or your body it’s time to get help. Perhaps you’ve tried every diet and nothing seems to work. You just can’t get off the hamster wheel. At Willow Shore Counseling, we take a Health At Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating approach. We believe healing relationships with food require letting go of food rules, more flexible eating, and saying goodbye to the “good/bad” mentality around food. The constant messages about food, weight and exercise are confusing. It’s no wonder disordered eating is on the rise!

We are firm believers in body neutrality and believe that healing your negative feelings toward your body is possible. Our belief is that all bodies are worthy of respect, deserve proper treatment by professionals, and that health doesn’t have a “size.” Anti-fat bias and body discrimination in our society is real. We strive to create safe spaces for all body sizes in our office.

We want you to find joyful ways to move your body, letting go of the daily slog of tracking mileage, calories burned and exercising through the pain. Our therapists don’t believe food or sugar is an addiction. Compulsion and/or overeating certain kinds of food is typically rooted in previous restriction, trauma, chronic dieting, food insecurity, morality around food and shame. As trained eating disorder therapists, we believe ALL foods can be part of a healthy diet. We will NEVER ask you to give up your favorite ice cream!

Our clinicians work with other providers, including dietitians and doctors to help you heal eating disorder behaviors. You can have a flexible and loving relationship to food and your body! We are specialized in treating Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge-Eating, ARFID, body image concerns, and chronic dieting. If you are unsure if you have an eating disorder, we can help you identify symptoms, understand your diagnosis and start the journey to food freedom and body satisfaction.
